I am fortunate to have the opportunity to create an illustration every month in magazine The Laurel of Asheville,  for Carol Howard’s articles who is the literary gardener.  The November month article was title  Pumpkins, Then & Now. Above is the finished illustration that I created.  I worked to give the illustration a vintage drawing flavor similar to the style of botanical plant drawing found in old books like the image below.

This project was started with several quick sketches to get my ideas on paper, my first sketch is shown below.  I have a more finished sketch that the author reviews before I work on a final line drawing.  The color is added to the finished drawing with Copic Markers.

    I love your pumpkin illustration. The intertwining leaves and pumpkins really catured my attention. And, a very nice monthly illustration gig to have.
